FlightPlanning.com is another site by us at InterNoetics. The site as it exists now is a global aircraft registration search engine but was never intended to be just a search engine. The initial objective was to build an actual flight planning website that would permit pilots to build robust flight plans for any aircraft type in any country – essentially replacing the need for windows based software. That was three years ago now and we’re no closer now to achieving that objective than we were when we first conceived the idea.
Since that time we’ve integrated it into a broader network of websites downline to flight.org; but that doesn’t mean that we’ve given up on the ambitious plans altogether – it just means that we’re lazy and can’t find the time. In any case, the generic nature of the domain coupled with the traffic generated over the last few years means that we will likely keep the website as it is (but further develop it of course) and relocate the plans for a flight planning service elsewhere… we’re very much undecided. That doesn’t really matter anyhow given that we’re far from rushing into it. We have a gentleman who works on another site with us that is insists it be built on the .NET platform so when it does finally come time to consider our options it’s likely that we’ll all be brushing up on coding ‘skills’ we haven’t used it years.
At this stage, monetisation is exclusively with Google AdSense but this may change in the very near future.
